Woman buys £2.67 Too Good To Go bag from bakery and contents leave her gobsmacked

A woman who picked up a Too Good To Go bag for less than £3 was floored by what she found inside. Too Good To Go – an app that allows thrifty shoppers to score discounted food from shops, cafes and restaurants that would otherwise go to waste – has soared in popularity in recent years.

People picking up the bags, however, have no say in what they will receive and the food they get isn't always what they might expect. One woman claims she nabbed the "best Too Good To Go haul ever", having scooped up £40 worth of food for just £2.67 using the app.

Emily McAllister visited her local bakery to buy a sweet treat, using the app to cut costs.

However, she wasn't expecting to be handed five bags stuffed full of delicious treats.

The "shocked" 25-year-old, from Essex, unpacked her bags from Preston's Village Bakery in a TikTok clip which has racked up 79,000 views at the time of writing.

“This was my first time trying Too Good To Go and it honestly didn’t disappoint,” marketing professional Emily told What's The Jam.

“It’s such a great way to reduce food waste and I was shocked at how much I got for just £2.67.

“I shared it with neighbours, friends, and family so nothing went to waste.”

Emily certainly got more than she bargained for, unpacking multiple loaves of fresh bread, 20 rolls, a number of croissants, cakes, scones, iced buns, tarts and pastries – and even pizza.

After sharing out the goods, she placed the bread in the freezer to be used at a later date.

Emily reckons she would have paid £30-£40 for her haul had she bought the items fresh. "For £2.67 this is crazy," she added.

“I feel like I’m going to be addicted to Too Good To Go. What a bargain.”

After Emily shared the video on TikTok, it garnered thousands of likes and comments.

One person wrote: “Omg this is the best too good to go I’ve ever seen what a steal!!!!”

Another person dubbed it an “amazing deal”.

Someone else joked: “My freezer would be crying.”

“That’s insane for 5 bags!! Amazing!” another user commented.

Another viewer added: “No other bag will live up to this one.”

“Can’t get over how much food this is!!!” wrote one user.

Another commented: “All this for £2.67 is CRAZY.”

While Emily had a great experience with the app, some people have been left less than impressed with their own hauls. When Becky, who posts on TikTok as @beckysbazaar, went to collect her Too Good To Go bag from Millie's Cookies in Manchester's Trafford Centre, she was left confused.

Becky explained the box had been listed as worth £12.60 but reduced to £6.29. However, when she opened the box, she said she saw "loads of different off-cuts."

On Too Good To Go's website, they share their app is "the world's largest marketplace for surplus food". They explain they "help users rescue good food from going to waste, offering great value for money at local stores, cafes and restaurants."
